- In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, butter and almond essence to form a dough. Using your hands, pat dough to form a base inside a round 9" dish.
- Spread apricot jam over uncooked base and set aside.
- To prepare filling, put almonds, butter, sugar, milk and vanilla into a sauce pan. Stir and heat. When butter and sugar melts, remove from heat.
- Pour filling on top of jam covered base. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 F for 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
