A moist, vegan chocolate cake to serve for dessert.

Ingredients
1 cups of flour (whole wheat or white)

1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/2 cups white sugar
1 container (150 g) soy dessert (original flavour) or soft plain tofu
1 banana, mashed
1 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup pecan or walnut pieces (optional)
1/4 tsp. vegtable oil or margarine, to grease dish

Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease a 9"x13" baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and and salt.
- In a smaller bowl, combine the applesauce, soy dessert, vanilla and mashed bananas. Mix until smooth.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry and mix well. Add chocolate chips and stir until combined.
- Pour the batter into the dish. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
- Cool and slice.
